BEST OF EUROPE IN 21 DAYS
I have been watching Rick Steves on PBS for years, never thinking I would ever go to Europe. It wasn't until after my daughter, Amy took her first trip to Europe, Rick Steves Best of Venice, Florence and Rome in 10 Days, that I had a burning desire to go to Europe. She returned from her Rick Steves trip enthused , confident , completely overjoyed with her trip and wanted to take me to Italy to show me what she had experienced! So in April 2015 we were off on our own to Europe. Amy had booked a very similar itinerary that she had taken on her Rick Steves Tour. The only thing different was we had to find our own transportation. Ben Cameron, the guide on her Rick Steves trip, had done an excellent job of teaching her how to get around the Rick Steves Way. We traveled by vaporetto boats,trains, buses, taxis and subways with ease. While doing the Heart of Rome Walk with pages torn out of our Rick Steves Italy book in hand and Rick's voice in our ears, we had an amazing encounter. The Real Rick Steves Himself was standing by the Four Rivers Fountain with one of his assistants. They were updating his travel guidebook. He was magnanimous enough to chat a minute with us and his assistant took a photo of the 3 of us. WHAT a Thrill for 2 Rick-nicks! After this amazing trip we wanted to go back to explore more of Europe. When we found out Rick was actually going to guide a trip, we were eager to sign up . As you can imagine, the seats for this trip sold out the first day. We were put on the wait list but to our amazement, we were called in June and booked another encounter with Rick Steves for 21 days! I hope you enjoy a peek at our thrilling trip!
